Yesterday, Eric and I had ALL DAY baby class from 9-4. It was a long day, but we learned a lot and feel a little more prepared for the big day. We watched a lot of video clips and was shown a lot of the "stuff" that will see/use in the hospital, and learned about the stages of labor, contractions, epidurals (yes, please!), and c-sections. Eric mostly paid attention to "how to get to the maternity unit when your wife is in labor" (he took notes on that part!) We also did some breathing techniques, and I realize my lung capacity at the moment is NOT good. Between a 5 pound baby sitting on my lungs and this nasty sinus cold, I barely could breathe through a 30 second contraction! So, lets hope I can get better at that! After class, we did a test drive to figure out where we will have to go and what door to go into when it all happens for real! Eric thinks he's got it all figured out, and that's good, because I will be of no help directing him anywhere-- not that I would be of help anyways because I'm so directionally challenge, but I will probably have my mind on other things....
After class, we went to Baby's R Us to pick up some things we still needed. We got our stroller/car seat (because I had a 20% off coupon!) and Eric got it put together today, and we played with it a little bit so we kind of know what we're doing. :)
We got the same car seat as Rebecca and Grant, so they are letting us use their extra base since Lily is in a bigger car seat now! It will be very nice to have 2 bases to have one in the car and one in the truck! They are getting installed this week by Daddy. :)
We also got a cover for the changing table, and a Bundle Me cover for the car seat. Then we ran to Target to return a swing we had gotten that we wanted in a different pattern, but they didn't have it, so we'll have to keep checking around. I also had my 35 week appointment this past Tuesday. Everything was good-- heart rate was back up in the 150's and my blood pressure was perfect. I gained another 3 pounds. The Dr told us the baby's head is down, so that is good, so lets hope she stays that way. I go again next Friday, and I will go weekly from then until I deliver!
Yesterday, we got home from school, and there was a box on our porch from 1-800-flowers. I was like, "Did you get me flowers?!" Eric replies with "maybe" and tells me to go get it.. I opened it and it was a dozen roses for Valentines Day, but the card was the best. Here's a picture below. So, I guess that means I need to get him something! :)
Today I was home by myself because Eric reffed in a tournament all day in Perry. I was in the mood to clean when I woke up, and one thing led to another and I got A LOT done! Washed all the bedding (including baby's), got all the laundry done and put away, got the upstairs picked up and vacuumed, and washed a few baby clothes-- just the onesies and sleepers and stuff she will be able to wear right away. I'm waiting on all the summer stuff to see how big she is as she may not fit into all of it! :) Got a few more things put away in the nursery. (picture below) Got the kitchen picked up and now I'm going to attempt making chocolate covered cherries. Grant's mom gave me a recipe, so I'm hoping they turn out as well as hers did! They were delicious.
This weekend we went up to Greene for a baby shower. Friday night, I got to hang out with Lindsey and Swanson and we went out to eat and catch up. Did some stalking of the old routes, and stalked all the people that no longer live there. It was good times :)
Saturday was the baby shower thrown by the Gabe's. It was at the church and we had a good time. I got TONS of great gifts for the baby and for the nursery. I need to thank Linn, Peggy, Lois and Kristina for going to all their hard work and making the shower a success. The food, the games, the decorations were all awesome and both Eric and I appreciate everything.
7 weeks to go! I had a dr. appointment on Tuesday. Gained another 3 pounds-- which was good considering I gained 9 last month! We heard the heart beat which was 131. They checked my blood to see if I was getting enough iron, and she said I was fine, so I wouldn't need an iron supplement. They measured me and I'm measuring an inch bigger than what I should be for 33 weeks, but the Dr. said it was nothing to worry about. My blood pressure was also good. Other than that, Baby Gabe is very active, as are we. Eric's reffing 3-4 times a week, and I go with him to several of them to watch. We have a shower this weekend being thrown by the Gabe's, so we will know more after that what we still need to prepare for her arrival! Hopefully the snow holds off so we can get to Greene for the weekend.
