6 month check-up

Leah had her 6 month check up today with Dr. DeVries. She weighed in at 15 lbs 8 oz (41st %) and was 26 1/4 inches long (70th%) and her giant head was in the 80th percentile :) She got the flu shot and 2 other ones, and we found out she has an ear infection in her left ear! She didn't really show me many signs except for a runny nose, but hasn't been too fussy. Although, Dr. DeVries said one of the signs is not wanting to lay down and take a bottle, and she has been unusually antsy when she eats. So, anyways, we are antibiotics, and lets hope we aren't allergic since Daddy is very allergic to penicillin. Other than that, everything was good. She said we are welcome to start introducing more and more foods, so that will be fun to see what she likes.
By the way, the little stinker absolutely LOVES peas.....way more than the green beans! :) Probably a little sweeter..

And.. here are some random pictures from Saturday (the 25th --6 months old!)

6 months old!

So, as of Saturday, Leah is 6 months old! Holy cow that went fast! :) She is growing like crazy and we are loving it. She is becoming quite a big girl and a big talker (or more like screecher). She is sitting up pretty well on her own, but still wobbles a little. We have tried cereal (which she is not a fan of) and green beans (which she seems to love). Peas are next on the list of trying.. which I would totally skip because I hate them, but I guess she needs to like the green veggies.. i'm ready for fruit, but as I am told by my mother, she would probably never eat another vegetable if I gave her fruit.... or ice cream :)

She babbles all the time, still loves her feet, loves blowing bubbles, and scoots backwards wonderfully. We haven't quite figured out forwards yet.

I will post pictures tonight!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

oh, and Eric won their football game Friday night, so they are tied at the top of their district! Good Job, Daddy! :)

Haven't blogged in awhile...

Here are some pictures from the last week.. I realized I hadn't updated this week, so here are some new pictures.. (since that's all we really care about :))

I started cereal with leah.. and well, she hates it.. so i mixed it in with some green beans, and she seems to like that much better.. although I gave her JUST green beans by themselves and she loves them! :)
Also, just her hanging out with Daddy and bath time...

Finish a Half-Marathon... Check!

So, Rachel and I did our first half marathon this weekend! It was the Park to Park in Waterloo. We started at George Wyth Park in Waterloo, and ran to Cedar Falls and back... yep, a long ways!! And we both finished! YAY! I had a couple goals going into it-- Finish in under 3 hours (did it-- 2 hrs and 48 mins), and NOT finish last... and i didn't come in last!! :) Rachel killed it finishing in 2 hrs and 13 mins! Just awesome! And she walked back a half mile to encourage me the last 1/2 mile.... I really thought the end was NEVER going to come!! It was emotional, and I'm glad I actually did it!
We are both glad we did it....... but we both said we'd probably never do it again! It was long! We both hurt a lot today. As you crossed the finish line, they announced your name and everyone clapped, so that was nice too.. They gave you a medal if you finished under 3 hrs, and then you also got all the food and beer you wanted.. all the food was great, but you don't exactly feel like eating after you've just ran for 3 hours! :) The beer however tasted pretty good :)

So, here we are in our medals.. We didn't have our camera at the actual race, so this is afterwards.

All Smiles...

SO, here are some random pictures I took last week... She's obviously feeling better! Still stuffed up some mornings, but feeling better... She's been pulling at her one ear a little bit, but hasn't been running a temp, and seems to be fine.. so I hope its her just playing with her ear :)

Sick Baby...

So, Leah has come down with her first cold... and to you other mothers who have all gone through cold after cold, I'm sure its nothing.. but I of course cart her off to her pediatrician today for them to tell me, "It's just a cold, Mom. It needs to run its course.." Good news-- no infection (yet) but bad news is I feel like I can't do anything for her to make her comfortable..and actually, she's happy except when its time for her to sleep.. she can't breathe, and she just gets upset.. So, needless to say, Mommy didn't get much sleep either last night... Tonight before she went to bed, I suctioned out the nose (which she just loves...NOT) and gave her some tylenol in hopes that she kinda just passes out for the night! She hardly napped at all today and I know its because she can't breathe.. but anywho.. that's our news.
Needless to say, my house is a pit. You'd think that me being home from school today this afternoon I would at least get something done.. yep, nothing done. Seriously, it looks like a tornado has gone through our house.. Last night, I had a school improvement meeting so Eric watched Leah, tonight we had a booster club meeting that Leah was the main attraction at.. so dind't get much rest in there..and now she's finally sleeping with the humidifier.
Eric's been super busy (and stressed) with football and their game this week as they play a pretty good team so we are both stressed out, and its only Wednesday! So, basically, I need to hire a maid AND I am willing to pay one of my students to come and mow our lawn because oh my lord does it need it... and of course Eric's busy.. I apologize to the neighborhood for our hayfield we have going.. :)

here are some pictures after her bath tonight...
